PGA Tour: Russell up some cash…

This week’s event on the PGA Tour is the RSM Classic, which takes place across two courses – the Sea Island Golf Club and the Plantation Course, in Georgia.

Neither course is particularly long and the fairways aren’t difficult to find, but the conditions could be windy given the courses are by the coast.

Favourite for this event is Webb Simpson, who does have a good record at this event, but we’re reluctant to side with players who played the Masters last week as that event tends to take it out of players.

This thought process also rules out the likes of Tyrrell Hatton and Sungjae Im, which brings us to Russell Henley.

It’s true he has missed his last two cuts at this event, but he’s playing a lot better now and did have a run of three top 10 finishes between 2014 and 2016. He has recorded top four finishes in two of his last three events, and can putt like a god when the mood takes him. We’ll take a punt.

Elsewhere, the European Tour heads south with the Randpark Golf Club hosting the Johannesburg Open.

We’re big fans of local South African talent at their own events, but a number of their more well known players took part in the Masters last week, which rules them out.

The top two in the betting are Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Brandon Stone. We’ll side with the former winner of the South African Open.

RSM Classic: Henley to win, 1 pt, at 25/1, William Hill

Johannesburg Open: Stone to win, 1 pt, 20/1, widely available

The double 0.5 pts each way
