Wednesday Yankee: Sweet Sixteen…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: Hill Sixteen, (1415 Ffos Las), 1pt win, 3/1:

A few nice lightly raced types in this, but the eye-catcher is Hill Sixteen making a debut for the in form Twiston-Davies yard.  He showed promise for Sue Smith last season, should handle the trip and ground, and the yard’s horses rarely want for fitness first time up.

Don Herbager, (1305 Ffos Las), 11/4: Robin Of Sherwood is 2lbs well in bidding for his hat-trick, but this a tough test.  Lightly weighted Don Herbager is 6lbs well in after his narrow defeat last week.  That gives him a huge chance.  He was off for 18 months prior to that, and backing a horse turning out quickly from a good reappearance is fraught with danger, but few trainers excel as much with long absent horses as Venetia Williams so we will take the chance.

Exploiteur, (1450 Ffos Las), 7/2:  made a really good handicap debut at Bangor recently when a strong second.  The winner has gone in again since and the form looks strong.  Should confirm the form with Eaton Hill on fractionally better terms, and must have a big chance of going one better.

Authorized Pursuit, (1550 Warwick), 3/1: Unraced 3yo fillies in a juvenile bumper wouldn’t be our normal hunting ground. But this race is full of fillies hardly bred for the job, and Dan Skelton’s filly stands out head and shoulders on that score. The stable does well in these events and this looks a likely type.  If she wins, we may even excuse the spelling of authorized !
