Yesterday’s Nap, Hill Sixteen (3/1 early, 2/1 SP), set a new record by winning by 48 lengths which has to be our biggest winning distance. If only we could bank a few of those excess lengths for use in other races !!!
The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: First Lord De Cuet, (1330 Market Rasen), 1pt win, 5/2:
He was backed on reappearance at Sandown as if defeat was out of the question. Unfortunately he made some crucial late errors and finished a close second. The Pipe yard rarely leave their money on the table and this course and distance looks a wise choice for a retrieval mission. The opposition hardly look too worrying.
Monalee, (1320 Thurles), 5/2: basically a three way fight between Kemboy, Monalee and Presenting Percy and it should be a cracker. On last season’s form the pecking order is well established with Monalee finishing ahead of Kemboy who finished ahead of Percy on both occasions they all lined up together. With this slightly shorter trip probably favouring Monalee, it’s hard to see why he should’t be favourite. He isn’t, so we should take advantage.
Max Flamingo, (1355 Thurles), 6/1: a tricky novice event on the face of it but favourite Jacksons Gold is lumping a big weight a long way whilst second fav Frontal Assault takes a big step up in trip. Max Flamingo is no world-beater, but he stays this trip, has course and distance form, and receives a useful weight allowance.
Ivor’s Involvement, (1505 Market Rasen), 9/4: Was a 100/1 jaw dropper when spread-eagling a field at Sedgefield last week. Gets to run off the same rating here making him 9lbs well in and in a race restricted to women jockeys, the booking of one of the best in Bryony Frost is an obvious added plus. Maybe the win was a complete fluke and normal service will be resumed, but is must be equally likely that he can repeat the dose.
