The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Deilginis, (1530 Punchestown), 1pt win, 6/4:
Last ran over hurdles two seasons ago when forging clear to win off 91. That makes today’s mark of 100 look only fair but is worth noting the excellent season she had over fences last year where her mark is now 122. That doesn’t always translate back to hurdles but even if she can just a portion of that improvement then this is hers for the taking.
Ballybroker Bridge, (1230 Punchestown), 4/1: this old age pensioner was twice narrowly defeated by today’s favourite Neverushacon over this banks course last season. With the Bridge getting older and marginally worse off at the weights there is a compelling argument for the form to be confirmed. But with no disrespect to his previous rider, the old boy now has the sublime services of Jamie Codd. Add in his excellent record fresh and that the fav does not have the help this time of a warm up run, and there are good reasons to hope for a turn up.
Colreevy, (1300 Punchestown), 2/1: a useful little novice chase but the Willie Mullins mare Colreevy surely has the most scope to go on to better things. She ran well in mares novice hurdles last year and looks the part for chasing. Paul Townend takes the ride and it will be a surprise if she isn’t primed to make a successful return.
Askann, (1330 Punchestown), 3/1: is looking to complete the Ted Rogers form this season having earned a 3 on return then a 2 when running a cracker in avoid race at Down Royal. Off just a 2lb higher mark the 1 beckons as she is up against a field of dusty bins.
