The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Broadclyst, (1415 Wincanton), 1pt win, 6/1:
Plenty of deadwood in this event but Bryan Carver’s valuable 3lb claim could be seen to good effect on Broadclyst. On his two previous runs here he was pipped off 117 before then falling 2 out with the race at his mercy off 118. He returns here again off 118, and hot from a strong effort at Exeter when just failing to last home in a nice little race. This looks equally winnable and with his strong past record here and the easier test of stamina likely to suit more than Exeter he looks a good bet.
Hydroplane, (1322 Market Rasen), 7/2: reasonable flat horse who made his handicap hurdle debut at the giddy heights of Cheltenham’s November meeting. Found that a bit tough but still ran well to finish at the back of the leading bunch. This is a significant drop in class and Market Rasen should be much more his scene. Should pick up the winning thread.
Tango Boy, (1345 Wincanton), 4/1: another who made his reappearance at Cheltenham recently and ran with great credit there when looking a contender coming down the hill before fading back to a still fair fifth. Has joint top weight for this big drop in class, but most of the big contenders here are carrying similar burdens. This easier opposition and the easier track could be what he needs.
Ede’iffs Elton, (1515 Wincanton), 10/3: still a maiden after 8 runs but did enough on chasing debut at Exeter to suggest that won’t last long. Has swept through to lead there and although he has been joined when he unseated 2 out, he was still likely to have placed. That was a good first cut at fences. This easier tracks and easier opposition should help, he should improve for the run, and he is another that gets the help of Bryan Carver.
