European Golf: Tom-Toms…

The European golfing season comes to a conclusion this weekend, with the DP World Tour Championship at the Earth Course in Dubai.

This has been a strange Covid-hit season, and two American players – Patrick Reed and Collin Morikawa – have excellent chances of winning the season-long Race to Dubai title despite hardly appearing at all on the circuit.

That said, we’re going to side with more local talent to win this week’s tournament. Tommy Fleetwood has an excellent record in this part of the world at this time of year, coming second to Jon Rham last year. He has spent most of his time on the PGA Tour this season, but his appearances on this side of the pond have been very successful – he finished third in Portugal, second in Scotland and 13th at Wentworth. We’ll take him to end the season with a win.

Our second selection is Tom Lewis. We fancied him last week but he failed the Covid protocol and had to withdraw. The reason behind out interest is his fantastic play in this part of the world in the past. The young Englishman finished seventh and sixth in the last two stagings of the DP World Tour Championship, was third in last year’s Saudi International and third in this year’s Dubai Desert Classic. He offers a healthy each-way price.
