Thursday Yankee: Some kind of luck?

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: Somekindofstar, (1432 Warwick), 1pt win, 4/1:

Relatively lightly raced for a 7yo, so reason to believe that although he showed massive improvement on only his second chasing start to record a smooth win at Market Rasen last time, that could be him finally blossoming on his 9th start rather than a strict function of chasing. That has to be the conclusion for him to be value today on a reversion to hurdles. Due to go up to a mark of 108 after that win, he gets in here off just 100. That gives him more than enough in hand if the same animal over the smaller obstacles. Worth a punt at the price.

Confirmation Bias, (1447 Taunton), 3/1: very nicely bred sort, who although likely to get a longer trip in due course was still speedy enough to win a bumper around sharp Wincanton. Wasn’t very impressive on hurdling debut but was much better here last time when a narrow runner-up. A mark of 120 looks very workable for a Paul Nicholls novice and he should be able to expose than leniency up to this trip on handicap debut.

Kilpin, (1502 Warwick), 5/1: we were on Vango De Vaige when a good third at Exeter last time, and whilst he is tempting this turning left handed track could hardly be a more different test. It would though have some similarity to Stratford where the novice Kilpin was a good recent second. Nicely bred, he should improve for this step up in trip and the Twiston-Davies father and son combo continue to be in fruitful form. Expect him to be up there the whole way, and still up there at the finish.

Glajou, (1517 Taunton), 6/4: was a comfortable winning nap for us recently at Southwell and is a few pounds well in here compared to his future mark. This may be a slightly stronger race but he had plenty in hand and as a 4yo has ample scope for improvement. Should be the banker anchor leg.
