Premier League: Stalemate at Anfield…

The Premier League continues with six more games tonight, with the highlight being the clash between Liverpool versus Tottenham at Anfield.

Despite this being a match between the top two in the table, Jose Mourinho’s game plan in this type of game is well known, he tries to shut the match down completely, hoping to catch the other side on the break. Liverpool have won their last five matches against Spurs, but offensively they have looked off the pace over the last few weeks, particularly against Fulham on Sunday.

A goalless draw looks a distinct possibility, but Liverpool have scored at least twice in each of their six home fixtures so we don’t want to take that risk. Instead we’ll side with just a draw.

The second game we’re looking at sees Leeds take on Newcastle at Elland Road. The hosts lost to West Ham last time out while Newcastle beat West Brom, which tends to suggest that the visitors are the inform team. But we’ve been impressed with Leeds this season, and expect them to bounce back with a victory tonight.

The third match sees Leicester take on Everton. Both sides had impressive wins over the weekend, but while Everton were holding on at times against Chelsea, Leicester had a much more convincing victory over Brighton.

Leicester are currently on a run of three consecutive victories, and must be oozing with confidence. They have struggled at home against some lesser sides this season, but seem to play well against the better sides (if we ignore their defeat at Anfield!). We take them to win tonight.

Recommendations:

Leicester, Leeds and Liverpool/Spurs to draw as a treble, 1 pt, at approximately 12/1, Paddy Power
