This is the last weekend of the regular season, and teams certain of their post-season positions could use this game as an opportunity to rest players ahead of the knock-out play to come. This will influence our thinking today.
First up, the Cleveland Browns take on the Pittsburgh Steelers, with the Browns needing to win to secure post-season play. The Steelers, on the other hand, are already in as champions of the AFC North, and are likely to rest a number of starters as a result. We fancy the Browns to win this game as a result, and will side with Cleveland star running back Nick Chubb to score the opening touchdown at 9/2.
Later on this evening, the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chiefs have secured home field advantage for the playoffs and are thus likely to rest some of their key offensive stars. However, the defending Super Bowl champions are still likely to have too much for the stuttering Chargers. With this in mind, we’ll take a chance on wide receiver Byron Pringle, often overshadowed by bigger names, scoring a touchdown anytime at 9/2.
Our final match sees the Los Angeles Rams taking on the Arizona Cardinals, an important fixture for both sides. The Rams, however, go into the game with untested quarterback John Wolford filling in for injured Jared Goff, who has broken his thumb. He will have his work cut out as the Cardinals have registered 46 sacks this season, an average of just over 3 per game. Bearing this in mind, we’re going to take a punt on the Cardinals defence/special teams to score a touchdown at 11/2.
Browns/Steelers: Chubb to score first touchdown at 9/2
Chiefs/Chargers: Pringle to score anytime touchdown at 9/2
Rams/Cardinals: Cardinals defence/special teams to score touchdown anytime at 11/2
