The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Ballydoyle (1440 Lingfield), 1pt win, 9/4:
He should continue to improve for his shrewd yard. Is much better fancied in the market than American Craftsman despite finishing behind that horse last time here. Neither horse got a clean run but the strong impression was that of a lost opportunity for Ballydoyle. He has since run well over hurdles and he has a fine chance of landing this event.
Eyes, (1240 Lingfield), 5/1: Interesting move to drop this filly back in trip and she will be well suited either by going off in front or held back if there is a strong pace – and she will have to do one of those tactics from her high draw. There appears to be pace elsewhere, so expect Nicola Currie to take a pull, sit well back, and then hope a slingshot finish off the home bend can pick up the pieces.
Our Oystercatcher, (1340 Lingfield), 7/1: front running 5f sprinter who is rarely seen at this 6f trip. Front runners are common enough in sprints but this fella looks the only likely source of early pace here. On this easy turning track, if jockey Carson can grab the early lead but keep the pace modest he may be able to use his 5f pace to steal a lead with a mid-race move and then it’s a case of begging for the line…
Twentysharesofgrey, (1410 Lingfield), 5/1: Should be plenty of pace in here and that should help this one as she steps back from contesting 7f races. Looked a possible winner last time until fading late on and this distance, and the added 7lb claim of the impressive Laura Pearson could make all the difference.
