Thursday Yankee: Show respect for the Don…

A little later than normal to adjust for postponements…..

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:   Don Herbager (1528 Ffos Las), 1pt win, 11/4:

Made a fine return from a long layoff at Lingfield before running a curious race here last time when we napped him, looking outpaced but staying on well too late for a close third.  This longer trip looks a good move on that showing and he should be able land this event.

Mere Anarchy, (1358 Ffos Las), 4/1:  a 10yo with only one hurdle win in 23 attempts but has been a little unlucky to bump into a series of well handicapped rivals over flat and jumps of late.  Doesn’t have a huge amount in hand but is in form which precious few of his rivals can boast.

Luscifer, (1415 Southwell), 5/1: hot favourite Perfect Swiss looks to follow up last week’s 8l romp under a 5lb penalty, but my be shorter than he should. That was a 4 runner race in which the odds on favourite bombed out and the time was slow. Indeed he has only been put up 6lbs for that so is just a pound well in. Luscifer has been on a roll all winter and although beaten into second last time he was forced wide there in a race run much closer to standard time. He looks value here to collect if the favourite has been over-backed.

Dirchill, (1445 Southwell), 9/2: a couple of these ran well here on Sunday. The market favour Samovar who ran around a second faster in finishing 2nd than Dirchill did in running third in different races over this course and distance. However Samovar will physically carry 6lbs more than Sunday, and Dirchill 7lbs less, and that 13lbs can make good the time gap, leaving Dirchill the value choice.
