NAP OF THE DAY: Moon King, (1340 Newcastle), 1pt win, 15/8:
Jumpers bumpers are designed to give experienced jump horses an outlet during weather affected programmes. Rayna’s World is massively well in on hurdles ratings, but this is a flat race, and on flat form it is Moon King who is over a stone well in. He should be the short priced favourite so we’ll take the value on him.
Snookered, (1410 Newcastle), 4/1: continuing the theme, Snookered is by no means the best of these on jumps form, but is much the most experienced when it comes to flat racing including at this track and he can put that to good use at a fair price.
Tara Kay, (1440 Newcastle), 12/1: Ran pretty well in four bumpers over the summer but was disappointing on hurdles debut last time. Much the youngest in a field of older chasers, gets the mares allowance for her mainly flat racing stable, and her youthful legs may be a bit sprightly for some of these and she looks value to cause an upset in a race where jumps form could be hugely misleading.
Brotherly Company, (1510 Newcastle), 10/3: again pretty much the only one of these with any flat racing credentials. Capable of running to around 70 on the flat – that is no great shakes in that sphere but may still be far too good for these chasing types.
