Thursday Yankee: It’s a New day….

Four winning naps in a row completed by Gowel Road’s impressive win yesterday. Could probably prefer better than heavy Wincanton and the sand tracks for finding number five, but we’ll give it a go !!…..

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: And The New, (1420 Wincanton), 1pt win, 5/1:

Hot favourite Brinkley has a lot of progress to make after a disappointing seasonal debut. And The New was a long time off the track before running a cracker here when not helped by a loose horse and by being taken on for the lead by a tearaway. He did well to finish as close as he did and confirmed that when only giving way after the last at Cheltenham next time over a longer trip against classy horses. This step down in trip and down in class should suit, and with no other likely pacesetters he could get his own way in front which should make him very dangerous.

Lamanver Bel Ami, (1450 Wincanton), 6/1:  a useful looking novice handicap but with the ground likely to ride very testing it’s possible that Jack Barber’s contender may have been underestimated.  He was a very brave winner in a typically bottomless Ffos Las big last time holding on from Don Herbager, who was a winning nap for us earlier this week.  That form looks solid and he should go well again.

Tathmeen, (1900 Newcastle), 11/4:  a regular here and on a discouragingly long losing run, that said he has looked in good form of late and was probably sunk by a significant draw bias here last time.  Shouldn’t face that problem here, and this looks an ideal chance to finally get going again off his lowest mark in ages.

Be Proud, (1930 Newcastle), 9/1:  a habitual entry in this blog and something of an expert in flattering to deceive by nearly winning.  Did finally win a few runs ago in a strong run 5f but has reverted to frustrating type over 6f since including an early unseat last time.  Back to 5f and with plenty of pace on, he has every chance to reproduce his best.
