The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Janika, (1350 Ascot), 2pts win, 6/1:
Still reasonably young for a horse with so much racing experience. Has raced almost exclusively over fences since import from France, with his best effort probably being his Haldon Cup win last year, which showed how good he can be fresh. Ran once over hurdles when a close enough 4th of 6 in the Grade 2 Relkeel Hurdle. He has his mark of 147 from that effort, which is 13lbs below his chasing mark, but that was a high quality hurdle and he may be capable of bettering that against lesser opposition. Gets the chance here under top weight and may be able to make his class tell if fit enough fresh from a wind operation.
Chef D’Oeuvre, (1405 Haydock), 11/2: better known as a staying chaser who has run well here in the past on this deep ground. Looks worth a go over hurdles and has found a race where the market leaders are far from bombproof. Worth a flutter.
Enqarde, (1425 Ascot), 11/2: novice chase who is considerably more unexposed than most of these. With inexperience comes jumping risk, which manifested with an unseat at Haydock last time when running well in a decent race. Makes some appeal off a low weight here if able to put in a clear round this time.
Good Boy Bobby, (1500 Ascot), 5/1: an interesting contest and Dashel Drasher looks a few pounds well in based on his win over good horses here last time. But that can only be good news for Good Boy Bobby who previously beat Dashel by 18l and is remarkably 8lbs better off here. Should run a big race.
