Napping Straight Swap is proving an exercise in frustration as he was a non-runner for the third time in a row. Doubtless he will run when we aren’t looking or at unattractive odds some time soon !!
The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Serious Ego, (1530 Kelso), 1pt win, 9/4:
Maybe not one to trust implicitly as he has a long track record of inconsistency, but there was no doubting how impressive he was at Haydock last time when a smooth winner, and it may be worth backing him to follow up whilst he is such evident tip-top shape.
Oliver’s Island, (1420 Kelso), 9/4: Chasing a hat-trick here after easy wins the last twice. Has to defy a 9lb rise for his latest win but probably could have done that with ease and this track looks ideal for his smooth travelling style.
Duc De Grissay, (1450 Kelso), 11/4: seems to being kept for stamina tests at this track, having won well here last March and looked likely to land the Borders National here last time before a late fall. Has to beat the in-form Quick Wave, it she will find this much harder up 7lbs and away from the shallow waters of mares-only company.
Atrafan, (1915 Southwell), 7/1: Three C’s may be a bit short here being only 3lb well in for a recent short head win in a 6 runner race. A whole bunch of those next in the. Egging have met here a few times of late and finished in a tight bunch. Tactics may prove important, but Atrafan is less exposed than many here and was hindered by a slow start here last time. Now that he knows the surface he could be dangerous.
