The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Gladiateur Allen, (1500 Ascot), 2pts win, 9/2:
The hardest of these to handicap having had very few runs and having shown hugely improved form when winning a novice event here last time. Add in the 5lb claim of jockey Chester Williams, and he could be very hard to beat off a very low weight, provided his jumping stands up to the test, but the slow pace on soft ground should be a huge help in that respect.
Jerrysback, (1425 Ascot), 7/2: always looked likely to make a classy chaser but has rarely been seen on the track. Ran an excellent third on comeback here last month and this longer trip should suit. On his third in a claimer race here last year he should have the beating of Regal Encore, and can land this under Richard Johnson.
Enqarde, (1540 Haydock), 4/1: a cracking event in which blog favourite Notachance is far from aptly named. But Enqarde sneaks in off a pretty low weight which might prove very useful in a marathon like this. Won pretty much as he liked at Ascot last time and has more to give as he gets more experience.
Shantou Flyer, (1633 Wincanton), 2/1: formerly very useful and has been runner up at the last three Cheltenham Festivals. Has transitioned to top trainer Nicholls and ran a pretty good race last time on reallocated a long break. If he progresses from that as hoped, then he should have little trouble winning off this mark.
