The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: On To Victory, (1535 Newbury), 1pt each way, 18/1:
Did us a big favour when winning the November handicap and is rated a whopping 105 on the flat. That makes this hurdling mark look a steal – the issue is the hurdling, with postcode form of U23FF1. A big handicap will stress that, but the odds reflect that risk, and the fast pace may suit him better than the novice events he has encountered so far. Could be too well in and can beat Cadzand and Mister Coffey.
Envol Pierji, (1330 Navan), 3/1: looks like a progressive handicap chaser, building on his runs this season to be a cosy winner when we tipped him at Down Royal last time. A 7lb weight rise could have been much worse and is mostly offset by the invaluable 5lb claim of Simon Torrens.
Vive Le Roi, (1350 Newbury), 25/1: with the ground possibly riding faster than it has for a fair while this has all the looks of an upset. Veteran Vive Le Roi has course form, stays well, has slipped to a good mark despite some fair efforts, and has a prominent run-style that could play well in these conditions.
I Like To Move It, (1645 Newbury), 7/2: a top class bumper and this Twiston-Davies trained youngster gets a very handy weight for age allowance. Has been impressive in his two wins to date and can stake a claim for the spring festivals by lifting this prestigious prize.
