NAP OF THE DAY: Scottish Accent, (1335 Carlisle), 1pt win, 3/1:
Not many in here that make much appeal on heavy ground. Scottish Accent is an exception having run well in these conditions before and this stiffer test looks much more suitable than the speedy Musselburgh track on which he struggled last time.
Teescomponents Lad, (1410 Carlisle), 6/1: sure to enjoy these conditions having won this race two years ago and been runner up last year and returns on a similar mark now having been running well of late. Vulnerable to a well handicapped type and although there are candidates ahead of him in the market that fit that bill they all have areas of weakness, and the odds that this consistent veteran outruns them all looks pretty reasonable.
Eclair Mag, (1440 Carlisle), 7/2: favourite Orrisdale has a strong chance but looks a bit short in the market: Eclair Mag consequently looks excellent value. Very unexposed having only had one run since import from France, he has been raised 9lbs for an ultimately decisive win at Market Rasen. He looked good for that margin, and this stiffer track looks sure to suit him even more.
Honda Fifty, (1540 Carlisle), 9/2: made a fair handicap debut in a better race than this at Musselburgh where the quality of the opposition and the speedy track had him under the cosh for most of the way. The likely slower pace here and better test of stamina could help and he is one of the few in here with scope to be better than his rating.
