Monday Yankee: If it ain’t broke…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: Mr Chua, (1505 Southwell), 1pt win,  7/4:

Already a blog legend after his anchor leg heroics as a nap last week brought in our huge full house.  Arguably should have won more easily there but the first two were well clear and the ground was a bit softer than advertised.  Should be hard to contain front running on this surface around a track that suits those tactics.

One Cool Poet, (1455 Leopardstown), 6/4: we were all over this fella like a rash at Christmas in his return to hurdling.  Looking fantastically well handicapped given his Flat exploits in recent times, which included three wins in a week at a Galway festival, he seems a good thing.  As so often with flat-jumps conversions it didn’t quite work out that way, but the very soft ground there may not have helped.  This drying surface should play to his flat speed and this is a lower grade again.  If he is to win over hurdles it has to be now.

Bronson In Blue, (1530 Leopardstown), 8/1:  a wide open race with a worthy favourite in Fierami who followed up a win at Navan with a good 4th there on Saturday.  If he is worth his position then Bronson In Blue should be value as he was 10l behind Fierami and gets a handy 8lb pull.  Importantly his best form has come in good ground so the drying weather is a huge boost.

Shantou Express, (1620 Wetherby), 5/2:  had looked a useful novice until unable to cope with the step up in class at Ascot against the likes of My Drogo and Soaring Glory.  Giving weight to these lesser rivals looks much more his thing, and a short break and better ground loom ideal for a horse whose stable remains in good form.
