The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Sir Maximilian, (1645 Chester), 4/1:
Rare to see a horse on the flat at the age of 12, but good old Sir Maximilian showed enough at Haydock last time to suggest he is up to winning off this reduced mark. He is an absolute Chester specialist and returns here a few pounds lower than winning on his last visit in the Autumn. Has been gifted stall 1 to boot and has a great chance to strike one for the pensioners.
Dubai Fountain, (1415 Chester), 2/1: by some way the highest rated of these after a consistent 2yo campaign where she often fell just short of top class. There is scope for lightly raced pair Darlectable You or Zeyaadah to improve, but they have a fair gulf to cross on form and Dubai’s experience is likely to be extra useful around this awkward track.
Wirko, (1515 Chester), 7/4: The Appleby trained 3yos have been in superb reappearance form. There must be some doubt as to how long that will hold as rivals get to peak fitness, but the style of this fella’s win at Epsom last time suggests these turns and the extra trip should be ideal, and he can carve out another win before the season gets into full flow.
Uncle Jumbo, (1545 Chester), 9/4: speedy sort who has also been blessed here with a nice draw. Looked a winner waiting to happen when getting absolutely no luck at all up the straight at Pontefract last time, and should have little trouble gaining compensation here.
