The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Mid Winster, (1530 York), 1pt win, 4/1:
A familiar filly to this blog and whilst the jury is out about this 6f trip being ideal, this sharp track is definitely the time to try. Her 4th here last time is significantly better form than any other on offer, and it is worth risking he seeing out that last furlong in what is a weakest event for the track.
The Whipmaster, (1410 Sandown), 3/1: steps up in grade here after some low-key wins. Also steps back from a mile but Ryan Moore rode him to win last time after some traffic issues at Windsor and obviously was keen to keep the ride. May not have stopped winning just yet.
Emiyn, (1520 York), 7/1: Sandret and Emiyn both ran with promise on seasonal debut and are the two that catch the eye. Emiyn’s effort came over this course when fading over a longer trip. That was his first chance to transfer his Irish form to the UK and the suspicion is that he can improve for this shorter trip having had that pipe-opener.
Shawaamekh, (1635 York), 9/1: Danielsflyer is the form horse on his excellent second in a large field here last time. Strictly speaking he should hold the 7th horse Shawaamekh on just 2lbs worse terms, but we were on Declan Carroll’s course lover that day and he really threatened to come with a winning effort before it petered out late on. He may just have needed that second run of the year and if he can see his effort through more effectively then he has a value chance to turn things around.
