It’s like London busses this sports betting game….
After “Super Sunday” for blog followers, we were really in pre-Open build up mode when suddenly the Tour de France clicked into top gear for us. We have had a few near misses on our stage bets in this year’s Tour, but all sense of frustration was swept away by an epic ride from today’s stage pick, Austrian champion Patrick Konrad.
We had felt that his own near miss on Friday would have him fired up for today’s Stage 16, and recommended him as a value option to claim a breakaway stage win at a mouth-watering 33/1.
In a day-long nail-biter he first made the break, then went alone, dangling in front of the chasing group by the narrowest of margins, but every time he was on the verge of being caught, he found some extra, before sealing a stunning solo win.
After an extraordinary weekend of wins, the crowning highlight of which was Min Woo Lee’s 150/1 Scottish Open golf win, blog followers will now be eagerly anticipating a week that still includes some brutal Tour de France mountain finishes and of course, the Open golf.
