Wednesday Yankee: Byron poetry in motion…

It’s been a good run for our naps with several back-to-back wins last week. That’s the case this week too as yesterday’s win for De Mazzaro (3/1) followed on from Monday’s win for Marie’s Diamond (9/2), but we’ll have to wait for the last race of the day to see if we can complete the nap-trick…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Byron Hill, (2045 Sandown), 1pt win, 5/1:

We napped Snowalot when he won last time and he is very tempting under a small penalty.  That said this looks much tougher and the Charlie Fellowes trained Byron Hill offers more value.  He was deeply impressive at Yarmouth but escaped tough treatment for that and went on to finish a good mid-division 7th in a quality Northumberland Plate spill-over race.  Should enjoy a drop in class here.

Gullane One, (1350 Catterick), 5/1:  has struck up a good partnership with star apprentice Ella McCain.  Was below par last time but will be fresher here.  Likes to bowl along on or near the pace and this track on a decent surface is definitely one where you need to be right up there.

Mutabaahy, (1520 , Catterick), 7/2:  May only have one win on turf but was only beaten by a diminishing short head here last year and this track seems to suit.  Loads of pace on in this race and it could be designed for a hold up horse like Mutabaahy who gets the verdict over perpetual nearly-horse  Dark Shot.

Go On Gal, (1550 Catterick), 9/2:  won really well here earlier in the year and a 4lb rise looks  generous enough.  Has flopped twice since but now gets back to this idiosyncratic course with a great chance to pick back up the winning thread.
