The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Classic Lord, (1445 Sandown), 1pt win, 2/1:
Has crept up a little in the weights but his form is looking rock solid after following a win with two good seconds. His Chester second has been boosted by wins for the first and third since, whilst his second here last time has been boosted by subsequent wins for the third and fourth. This race doesn’t look like it will take too much winning and it’s a surprise he is odds against let alone bordering 2/1.
Buy Me Back, (1300 , Sandown), 3/1: looking for a hat-trick after two cosy wins. Was pretty impressive at Brighton last time. Has to step it up to Class 4 here, but a filly in form can progress rapidly and her useful apprentice takes off a valuable 5lbs.
Arctic Vega, (1555 Sandown), 6/1: a very interesting little handicap in which Russian Virtue may overturn course form with Sweet Reward. However both may struggle with Arctic Vega. From the in form Balding yard he can break his turf duck having run really well in his three turf runs this season without any luck. Has been dropped a couple of pounds which is help he probably didn’t even need.
Lamorna Cove, (2010 Newbury), 11/1: Melly’s Flyer is the worthy favourite after making all at Epsom last time. Those tactics can work better on that turning track than up this straight 7f and there is no guarantee of a repeat. Lamorna Cove has a low rating after some poor maiden form but she ran with a little bit of promise here last time. Her stable usually hits form at this time and the hood and the guaranteed gallop from the favourite can conspire to give this filly the chance to make a huge stride forward.
