The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Pax Britannica, (1545 Chelmsford), 1pt win, 5/1:
Was an impressive winner over this course and distance towards the end of last season and ran pretty well here again on reappearance. He ran well twice after that against good opposition and it could be worth excusing a blow-out last time over a longer trip on soft turf. Back under ideal conditions he has a big winning chance.
Toussarok, (1335 Catterick), 4/1: the market is stacked here towards the lightly raced Entwistle. He has obvious unexposed promise but winning a weak maiden here is not enough to warrant a very short price off an opening mark of 80, you are buying the promise and we would rather seek value elsewhere. Toussarok flipped when we though he would go well at front-runners track Ayr last time but he could never get to the front that day and sulked. He should be able to grab the lead in this small field and again has a track that favours pace and he could be the value.
Sfumato, (1410 Catterick), 5/2: been around while and is usually one to notice once he hits form. Did so in style with a cosy win here last time. Up 5lbs for that and takes on a few of those close behind, but overcame trouble to win then and it will be a surprise if he doesn’t confirm the placings with a repeat here.
Rewaayat, (1618 Chelmsford), 3/1: a frustrating sprinter who often hints that he could be better than he has shown to date. Has run well off this higher rating since a Salisbury romp last season and it may be that this switch to all weather (on which he has won) and a turning 6f could unlock some further improvement.
