The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Safran, (1415 Redcar), 1pt win, 11/4:
Like many of his stable’s French imports he has taken a few runs to find his feet, but a good York effort and two good recent Ripon thirds suggest he is ready to come good. Those tracks are awful for horses coming from off the pace so his efforts are all the more commendable. Should be better suited to pulling off those tactics at this track, and can land his first UK win.
Idoapologise, (1445 Redcar), 3/1: very much has two ways of running and bombed out when far too keen last time. Seems to be at his best after a short break, and at his best in September. Won his only race this month in 2019, and again in 2020 after a two month layoff. It’s September again and he has had another 2 month lay off and it would be no surprise at all to see history repeated.
Mutanaaseq, (1520 Redcar), 11/1: this looks an open enough race and it is hard to see why Ruth Carr’s Mutanaaseq is four times the price of favourite Captain Vallo despite beating that horse comfortably at these weights just six weeks ago. Admittedly he is not a frequent winner, but he has run well all season and should enjoy this straight track test.
Overthink, (1655 Redcar), 5/4: it is tempting to look at Vertice who ran with real promise on stable debut at Catterick, but the winner there Overthink looks to have untapped potential and should easily confirm the form. He was better the further he went and it was the same last time at Wolves despite getting himself behind at times. Blinkers looks a good call, but it’s this conventional flat track with a good long straight that should really help this out and out galloper.
