The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Smart Connection, (2030 Chelmsford ), 1pt win, 2/1:
A typical Autumn improver who finally won last time at the 17th attempt, but did so in the manner of one that could follow-up off just 5lbs more. Gets a good inside draw and should prove hard to beat.
Haunted Dream, (1730 Chelmsford), 7/2: best of his maiden runs came on the all weather and his handicap debut 5th at Ffos Las last time is better than it looked as he met trouble before staying on. This trip should help, and he can slug his way to the win.
Riknnah, (1900 Chelmsford), 11/2: Jockeys William Buick and Oisin Murphy are locked in battle for the title up until Saturday. Given the frequency with which Buick rides for Godolphin it is a surprise to see his title rival on their favourite here, as Buick rides the useful Riknnah. This filly was in good form early season but seems to have lost her way. That said there was more to like about Kempton last time, and that may have triggered a return to full form
Far Hope, (2000 Chelmsford), 8/1: another case of jockey Buick not getting the leg up on Goldolphin’s runner and going instead to the Chrisford yard. Surely that happens only because Buick has confidence in his choice, and that Far Hope is expected to make a big challenge.
