Champions League: Side with Salah…

The group stage of the Champions League continues this week, with Liverpool traveling to Spain to take on Atletico Madrid.

The two teams have history, with Atletico knocking Liverpool out of the Champions League after winning both legs of their last-16 tie in early 2020.

This is likely to be a tight game, but Liverpool seem to be playing with real confidence at the moment. They scored five in their last away trip in this competition, with Mohamed Salah opening the scoring on that occasion. We’ll take a punt that the Egyptian star, who has been playing extremely well of late, scores first again.

The early game sees Manchester City take on Club Bruges.

After losing in Paris last time out in Europe, City can’t afford to slip up again in their quest to finish at the summit of Group A. We think City will show their class tonight, and expect a dominant performance.

We also noted with interest Kevin De Bruyne scoring for the Manchester club on the weekend. The Belgian star appears to be playing his way back into top form, and we think the 6/1 that he opens the scoring tonight represents value.

Recommendations:

Atletico/Liverpool: Salah to score first, 1 pt, at 5/1, William Hill

Bruges/Man City: De Bruyne to score first, 1 pt, at 6/1, William Hill
