Tuesday Yankee: Captain’s orders…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Captain Vallo, (1450 Newcastle), 1pt win, 9/2:

A competitive race with lots of Newcastle regulars.  In that context Captain Vallo is unexposed having had just 10 runs and only two here, improving on a decent runner up effort to run out an easy winner here last week.  Escapes a penalty for that win and must have a big chance off the same rating.

Plastic Paddy, (1600 Newcastle), 9/4:   Another lightly raced 3yo taking on older rivals.  Has had just 9 runs and recorded his first win on his first run here last month.  Has since run well at Chelmsford, whose shorter straight would not be as suitable.  Returned here he looks to have a big chance of regaining the winning thread.

Burtonwood, (1723 Yarmouth), 20/1:  veteran who is capable of winning occasionally.  Showed a bit more in his last two races and is on a great mark historically.  This track could suit and if he can step forward even a little from those recent efforts he will have a fair change here

Join Forces,  (1930 Kempton), 9/2:  has been campaigned mostly at 7f where aggressive front running rides have seen him lead until the furlong pole before fading.  No surprise to see 6f given a go at Wolves last time where in contrast he struggled to go the pace before staying on nicely late on.  This track is better suited to those making ground from off the pace and could suit ideally.
