The opening game of this Premier League Saturday sees Chelsea take on Norwich at Stamford Bridge.
The Premier League leaders will be without their two main strikers due to injury, and you have to go back to the middle of May for the last time Chelsea started a match without either Timo Werner or Romelu Lukaku. On that occasion the Blues lost 1-0 to Arsenal.
This could offer Norwich some hope of getting something out of today’s game, but the Canaries have score just two goals so far this season and lie bottom of the Premier League without a win to their name.
Chelsea are still likely to have a lot of the ball, and this means plenty of opportunities for their defenders to get into the box. Ben Chilwell has scored three goals in his last three matches, two for Chelsea and one for England, and is a large price to net today.
The late game sees Brighton host reigning champions Manchester City at the Amex Stadium.
The hosts have made an excellent start to the season, but this will be their first real test and it is going to be hard for them. Manchester City are playing well, and were excellent in their 5-1 Champions League win over Club Bruges in Belgium in midweek.
One of City’s stars this season has been Phil Foden. He has only scored once in the Premier League so far this season, but he does top Manchester City’s shots-on-target per 90 minutes chart. He scored in City’s 3-2 defeat here last season, and should get chances this evening either in the false nine or wide left position. We’ll take him to open the scoring.
Chelsea/Norwich: Chilwell to score anytime, 1 pt, at 8/1, Paddy Power
Brighton/Man City: Foden to score first, 1 pt, at 6/1, William Hill
