Monday Yankee: Rio can dance on the sand…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Glorious Rio, (1900 Newcastle), 1pt win, 7/2:

Track specialist Buniann takes a bit of beating here, but the prolific Glorious Rio has been in amazing form since the Summer and could go in again.  He was very impressive here two runs ago and can be forgiven his defeat at muddy Pontefract last time when the race went about as badly as it could.

Bobby Shaftoe, (1700 Redcar), 10/1:  has only had 5 runs and stepped back to sprinting last time when a no unlucky over Musselburgh’s sharp 5f, staying on really well but all too late.  This step up to 6f looks the right call and the assistance of the excellent Amie Waugh is a clear positive.

Iron Sheriff, (1725 Newcastle), 6/1:   Has looked unlucky on a few occasions this season but ran a blinder here last time when just touched off by a subsequent winner with the rest well beaten.  Remains pretty well handicapped, and can land a competitive event at a decent price.

Boondoggle, (1830 Newcastle), 7/1:  top. Weight in a nursery is an age old system.  Boondoggle has earned that on his maiden win and after two quiet runs raised significantly in class he ran an eye-catcher back in this company at Wolves last time.  He ran on nicely there from last after an unfortunate slow start.  Hollie Doyle continues to ride superbly and she could be a crucial added factor for this guy.
