Premier League: Havertz holds the Kai…

The Premier League weekend kicks off with a clash between Leicester and Chelsea at the King Power Stadium.

The London outfit sit proudly at the top of the league, but suffered a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Burnley last time out. That was only the third game this campaign that they have dropped points, the other two being against Liverpool and Manchester City.

This could be a tricky game for the bounce back, but Leicester haven’t kept a clean sheet since the opening weekend, are without a win in four in all competitions and must do battle without influential midfielder Youri Tielemans.

We think this points to a Chelsea away win, and we also note that four of their last five away have ended with a clean sheet while they collected the three points.

With this in mind, we’re going to side with a Chelsea player to score first – step forward Kai Havertz. The German international has scored five goals in his last 10 games for club and country, and could well lead the line for the Blues in the likely absence of Romelu Lukaku. He’s 7/1 best priced to do so.

The late game will see Arsenal‘s revival under manager Mikel Arteta truly tested as they travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool.

The Gunners have climbed to fifth in the table after taking 20 points from their last eight games, including keeping clean sheets in their last two. However, they have lost their last five league visits to Anfield, conceding at least three goals on each occasion.

The Reds have had a nervous international break, with reports of injuries to key players Jordan Henderson, Andy Robertson and Sadio Mane. But as it currently stands, only Henderson looks a serious doubt and that means the Liverpool front three will be available to test the Arsenal back line.

Premier League fixtures between Liverpool and Arsenal have generated a stunning 169 goals, and Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has scored seven goals in his last nine games against today’s opponent. He’s 100/30 to open the scoring, and we’ll be on that.

Recommendations:

Leicester/Chelsea: Havertz to score first, 1 pt, at 7/1, William Hill

Liverpool/Arsenal: Salah to score first, 1 pt, at 100/30, William Hill
