The highlight of tonight’s Champions League fixtures sees Manchester City host Paris Saint Germain at the Etihad, looking to avoid defeat and advance to the knockout stage.
City lost 2-0 in Paris earlier in the campaign, but they have wrestled back control of Group A. Even though a point will secure qualification, they will want to top the group and thus will be going all out for a win. There is a lot of focus on PSG’s superstar front three – Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar – but City’s all-round play may be too much for the visitors to cope with.
Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo has been directly involved in five goals in his past four Champions League appearances, two goals and three assists, and we’ll take a punt that he gets on the scoresheet in a potentially high-scoring match.
The second game sees Liverpool take on Porto at Anfield, having already qualified for the knockout stage top of the group.
With the Reds already through, manager Jurgen Klopp can afford to rest some of his key players at the start of a busy spell of games – they have nine games in the Premier League, Champions League and Carabao Cup in December alone.
That said, they did beat Porto 5-1 in Portugal in September and have won the past three meetings by an aggregate score of 11-2 – there is quite a gap in quality between the two sides.
We think Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is likely to start given the injuries in midfield, and he does love a shot! We’ll take him to score anytime at 5/1.
