Premier League: Bowen brace bonanza…

The postponement of the North London derby for Covid reasons has left just two games in the Premier League this Sunday, starting with Liverpool‘s clash with Brentford at Anfield.

The Reds are missing key strikers Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah to the Africa Cup of Nations, and their importance to this team was amply illustrated by the Anfield stalemate in the League Cup semifinal on Thursday. However, they should still have enough to beat Brentford, particularly as the visitors have not won any of their last six away games, conceding 16 goals during that run.

With Liverpool’s two main goal threats absent, a lot of the pressure to score is going to fall on the shoulders of Diogo Jota. The Portuguese star has scored 10 goals this season, and we’ll take him to score first in what could be a low scoring game.

Sunday’s second game sees West Ham host Leeds at the London Stadium, looking to cement their spot in the top four of the table.

The Hammers have got over their little slump in results and have now won four games in a row in all competitions, including a win over Leeds in the FA Cup last weekend. The visitors have struggled defensively this season, conceded 17 goals in their last five games, and this persuades us to side with the claret and blue.

Jarrod Bowen scored twice against Norwich midweek, and the attacking midfielder has looked a real threat of late. He’s a hefty 25/1 to score another brace, and we’ll give that a shot.
