International Golf: Min to win…

The newly-named DP World Tour kicks off this week, with the Abu Dhabi Championship at Yas Links starting the ball rolling.

This is a new course for this tournament, and has attracted several high-profile name, including Collin Morikawa, Rory McIlroy and Viktor Hovland.

Any of these three talented players could win this event, but we’re going to side with a player who has already shown some form this early in the season.

Min Woo Lee is a blog favourite, and he shook the rust out of his system by finishing fourth in the Australian PGA Championship last week. He loves windy conditions, and has finished fourth in both the Sadi International and Dubai Championship in the past. We’ll rise on his coattails.

The PGA Tour heads to California for the American Express, which takes place over three courses.

Jon Rahm is the hot favourite for the event, having come so close to winning in Hawaii a couple of weeks ago. He won this event in 2018 and was sixth in 2019, and will have a good chance this week. But around 6/1, we’ll pass.

Instead we’re going to side with Scottie Scheffler to break his PGA Tour duck, by winning his first event. He finished third in 2020 on his Amex debut, and his confidence must be at an all-time high after his superb Ryder Cup. His first win must come soon, why not now?

Recommendations:

Abu Dhabi: Lee 0.5 pts ew at 35/1, 1/5 the odds for the first eight places, William Hill

Amex: Scheffler to win, 1 pt, at 20/1, bet365
