Tonight’s game in the Premier League sees Newcastle host Arsenal at St. James’ Park, with the visitors needing to win or fourth place will be out of their hands on the final day of the season.
The Gunners endured a horrible night in Thursday’s north London derby, not only losing 3-0 but losing Rob Holding to suspension while doubts remain about the fitness of over first-choice centre-backs Ben White and Gabriel. They suffered a dreadful start to the season when there was defensive instability, and there must be doubts about the solidity of tonight’s lineup.
Newcastle’s need for points is less desperate than Arsenal’s but with the prospect of more heavy investment over the summer, their current players have to take every opportunity to impress. The Magpies lost 1-0 to Liverpool in their last home match, hardly a disgrace, and that ended a run of six straight league victories at St. James’ Park. Additionally, they have scored in eight of their last nine home contests.
We’re not sure who will win tonight, but we’re pretty confident that Kieran Trippier’s set-piece delivery will cause the makeshift Arsenal defence problems. Dan Burn had at least one attempt at goal in seven straight appearances for Newcastle before the games against title contenders Manchester City and Liverpool. The giant defender is a massive 20/1 to score tonight, and we’ll be on that.
Recommendation:
Burn to score anytime, 1 pt, at 20/1, William Hill
