NAP OF THE DAY: Fresh Hope, (1700 Ascot), 2pts win, 8/1:
A hot handicap but it is hard to get away from the Fellowes trained and Turner ridden Fresh Hope. Having won this event with outsiders in both 2019 and 2020, you just know that trainer and jockey will have been keenly eyeing up a prospect for this event. This filly looks extremely well handicapped as she was value for much more than a last gasp win last time out and has exactly the run style connections know will suit this race ideally.
RACE OF THE DAY: Cachet, (1620 Ascot), 1pt win, 6/1:
Such is the long held high regard of Inspiral that although she has been slow to find her form at home and is expected to improve for this reappearance she is still the warm favourite. Guineas winner Cachet has less to prove. She was touched off in France last time after her Newmarket win, and although not the superstar Inspiral could become, she may just be sharper and ready to run to her best.
Rest Of The Card
Mawj, (1430 Ascot), 1pt win, 2/1: there have been a mix of market leaders and shock winners of the juvenile races this week. Don’t expect a shock here in a race where the market usually tells a story and the Godolphin blue looks ready to dominate with easy Newmarket winner Mawj.
Perfect Power, (1505 Ascot), 1pt win 4/1: forgive his seventh over a mile in the 2000 Guineas and this fella has all the right credentials. Has the stamina to win at 7f but also has plenty of speed and comes from a yard already on the scoresheet this week. Drawn out in stall one, but low numbers have fared well this week and he is a pretty uncomplicated and tactically versatile runner who has a great chance in the week’s weakest group 1.
Trawlerman, (1540 Ascot), 1pt win, 5/1: looked good early in his 3yo campaign which finished abruptly after a 6th at Sandown. Given the early season end it is fair to assume not all was right at Sandown but that form is very strong even in face value. He did well to win on return at Chelmsford and can go well here under Frankie who will be looking to right a few of yesterday’s wrongs.
Ottoman Fleet, (1735 Ascot), 1pt win, 15/8: lightly raced type who has come a long way quickly in just two runs. Looks to have more scope to improve than his rivals and can add to Godolphin’s growing tally at this weeks festival.
Ladies Church, (1810 Ascot), 2pts win, 6/1: trainer Johnny Murtagh has already shown that he is a dab hand at targeting valuable handicaps. He has appeared to have gotten this quality sprinting filly on to a good mark of 98 given the quality of her recent runs in listed class. She looks simply too well in to ignore.
