The Daily Yankee:
NAP OF THE DAY: Summerghand, (1450 Ripon), 2pts win, 5/1:
No surprise to blog regulars to see this old boy tipped up. We were on him at both Ascot and Goodwood recently only to see his come from behind tactics foiled by serious traffic issues. The smaller field here should help him avoid so much trouble although he will still need a fast run race. Worth a rescue punt.
Dance Fever, (1500 Newbury), 11/4: another old blog favourite and one whose slipping mark has seen him return to some form of late. His third in a big field at Goodwood last time is the best recent form on offer here and he is one of only a few of these to specialise at this trip.
Garden Oasis, (1525 Ripon), 4/1: three times a course winner and that is no surprise at a track that so heavily favours front runners. Ran a decent third here two runs ago as poor form has seen his handicap mark slip to a very generous rating. Should have a ball in front today and can last home.
Dubai Poet (1535 Newbury), 8/1: a tricky looking 7f group race but hard to see why the higher rated 7f Ascot run of Dubai Poet is being so overlooked in the market to fellow 3yo and lower rated 6f horse Tiber Flow. Yes that horse could improve for this trip but the gap is too big and Dubai Poet could arguably have won the Jersey stakes last time but for being drawn away form the pace-setting winner.
