The Daily Yankee:
NAP OF THE DAY: First Officer, (1513 Doncaster), 1pt win, 10/1:
Tempting to go with our 2020 November Handicap hero On To Victory to repeat, or a jumps type like Meslier on this heavy ground. However there are some good looking 3yos in here who just may have too much in hand. Israr could be a group horse, and Nathanael Greene should enjoy the shorter trip, but the lowly weighted First Officer has looked improved on this end of season mud, and can take full advantage of his feather weight here.
Rhythm Master, (1250 Doncaster), 10/1: so many of the market leaders here, including our pet Summerghand, have dubious heavy ground credentials. Rhythm Master ran third in this last year when it was very testing and arguably approaches this year’s race in better form. May have a much bigger say than official ratings would suggest.
Milan Bridge, (1301 Aintree ), 3/1: An interesting little handicap, but with his stable in typically buoyant early season form, with a decent novice campaign behind him, and yet lurking off a very dangerous looking mark of 126, this unexposed contender looks a very worthy favourite.
Spiritofthegames, (1411 Aintree), 10/1: it’s 23 races and 4 years since this old rogue last won a race, but he has been placed in more than half those years efforts and he is very consistent. He was a decent 5th on first sight of these fences in April when getting behind early before warming to the task. He comes here off a decent seasonal debut, and if finding his rhythm a bit sooner then he has a huge role to play.
