NAP OF THE DAY: Stolen Silver, (1420 Cheltenham), 1pt win, 7/1:
Improved throughout last season and ran well here at the festival where the slightly longer and more stamina sapping new course on soft ground just saw him fail to get home. Sluiced in on a better surface on this track afterwards and although now 7lb higher than at the festival, he had conditions in his favour and a stable in flying big race form.
Anightinlambourn, (1310 Cheltenham), 6/1: there is often a strong link between this race a near identical event at the October meeting. That race this year should have been won by this fella but for a stumble at the last when clear. This quickening surface looks sure to suit and we know he will handle the hustle and bustle of a big field at this track. Should have a big chance.
Padleyouroencanoe, (1455 Cheltenham), 9/2: perhaps not the easiest horse to cajole to the front, but is starting to look spectacularly well handicapped having not really looked comfortable over fences but able to enjoy a dropped rating as a result include over hurdles. Often goes well fresh and the stable will have had this targeted.
Queens Gamble, (1605 Cheltenham), 3/1: yet to prove herself as much as the favourite here Luccia, but does get a small weight allowance and her only run to date was over this track when seriously impressive. It’s a strong race, but the vibes from Lambourn are that this could just be a special mare.
