International Golf: Min to woo Dubai…

The DP World Tour season comes to an end this week, with the Earth Course at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai hosting the DP World Tour Championship.

The top three in the betting are Rory McIlroy. Jon Rahm and Matt Fitzpatrick, and all three have excellent records around this course. That said, it’s very difficult to look past the Northern Irishman. Rory has recorded two victories, seven top-fives and has never been outside the top 20 in 11 visits, an illustration of just how comfortable he feels on this wide-open layout.

He’s top priced at 3/1, and we wouldn’t out anyone off that, but we’re going to look elsewhere for value.

Some of the bookies are offering odds betting without the top three as well as Norwegian star Viktor Hovland. We’re going to take a punt on Min Woo Lee in that market. He has already won two DP World Tour titles, and has finished third in both Spanish Open and Andalucia Masters recently. He has form in the desert, finishing fourth in the 2019 Saudi International and fourth in last year’s Dubai Championship, and has already shown he can play under the spotlight, finishing 14th on his Masters debut in April.

On the PGA Tour, the Seaside and Plantation Courses at the Sea Island Resort in Georgia is hosting the RSM Classic.

There are a noticeable absence of top talent in this event, and we’re going to side with Mackenzie Hughes given his good memories with this event. The Canadian won here on his debut in 2016, his maiden PGA Tour title, and also finished runner-up here last year.

He comes into the tournament after a playoff victory in the Sanderson Farms Championship last month, and has finished in the top 25 in his last four events.

Recommendations:

DP World Tour Championship: Lee to win, betting without McIlroy, Rahm, Fitzpatrick and Hovland, 1 pt at 16/1, SkyBet

RSM Classic: Hughes 0.5 pts each way at 30/1, 1/5 the odds for the first 8 places, SkyBet
