The Daily Yankee:
NAP OF THE DAY: Might I, (1425 Haydock), 2pts win, 7/2:
Very useful novice who finished within sight of Constitution Hill, Jonbon and Three Strip Life. A handicap debut mark of 142 is very workable and he handles soft ground well. This is a good contest but he could be very well in.
Achille, (1240 Haydock), 5/1: an old age pensioner from a yard in low-key form hardly screams winner, but this old fella ran well here before on heavy ground and was running a decent race in the Midlands National until an equipment failure. May teach the young-uns a few things.
Frero Banbou, (1455 Cheltenham), 7/1: we adore Edwardstone, but he isn’t a big horse and 12st on softening ground first time out is a tough ask. Frero loves it here and should be sharper for his recent return. Any further rain help and he looks value.
Lord Du Mesnil, (1535 Haydock), 5/1: soft and heavy ground chases here are Marmite conditions and this fella loves it with heavy ground course form of 1121. Has dropped back to a reasonable mark and ran well enough last time to give encouragement that the return to these conditions can see a return to the winner’s enclosure.
