The Daily Yankee:
NAP OF THE DAY: Bridge North, (1310 Sandown), 2pts win, 4/1:
Promising lightly raced second season hurdler who looks on a decent mark for handicaps. We backed him at Aintree on return but he just didn’t look sharp enough over the shorter trip there, shaping as though a test like today’s would suit. Should love the long climb to the line here and looks good value.
Dr Kananga, (1405 Aintree), 12/1: lightly raced second season chaser who warmed up with a decent hurdles reappearance. Likes to race up with the pace which works as a tactic here and whilst his inexperience is an obvious minus over these fences, it also leaves him unexposed at the weights and hence very dangerous if finding a rhythm. Will hopefully prove more successful than his Bond villain namesake.
Elvis Mail, (1440 Aintree), 14/1: this race has the hallmarks of an upset and last year’s winner Clan Legend can’t be ruled out, but stablemate Elvis Mail could be the one to deliver. Had been a bit of a nearly horse last year but looked much better when an easy winner on reappearance and worth risking that he can repeat the dose.
Walking On Air, (1515 Aintree), 7/2: was a non runner when we fancied him at Newbury last week and it looks significant that connections have quickly found another valuable Saturday handicap for this lightly raced sort. It’s a return to the scene of the crime when his jumping went to pieces here in Grade 1 company in the Spring. This will be easier and the stable clearly think he is much better than this.
