The Premier League weekend continues tonight, starting at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea take on Bournemouth.
The break for the World Cup could have come at a good time for the Blues, as it allows the to reset after going into the tournament in dismal form, losing their last three league matches against Newcastle, Arsenal and Brighton, as well as going down 2-0 at Manchester City in the League Cup.
By contrast, the Cherries had put together a solid run of form after a change of management, scoring eight goals in their last three Premier League games, as many as they had in their previous 11 combined.
Chelsea need the win, but it’s unlikely to be pretty. We’ll look for the home team to rely on set pieces for chances, and will take a chance the big central defender Thiago Silva nets.
The late game comes from Old Trafford as Manchester United take on Nottingham Forest.
The hosts were in fine form prior to the international break, winning four of their past five Premier League home games, drawing the other. They still looked pretty sharp in the League Cup last week, and will be confident of winning tonight.
In games away at the current top three – Arsenal, Manchester City and Newcastle – Forest did not pick up a single point, losing by an aggregate score line of 13-0. This all points to a home win, and plenty of goals.
Marcus Rashford played very well in Qatar, scoring three times for England, and continued that form with a wonder goal against Derby in the League Cup. We expected him to shine tonight, and will take a punt at 10/1 that he nets twice.
