NAP OF THE DAY: Conflated, (1420 Leopardstown), 2pts win, 3/1:
Consistent type, especially at this track and is almost certainly the second best horse in this race. The best is obviously runaway Gold Cup winner and hot favourite A Plus Tard. But his Cheltenham win was by far his best and his previous runs here, whilst good enough to win this were not quite to his March standard. Add to that a dismal last run at Haydock and there has to be a concern about him being at his best here, and that opens the door for Conflated.
Unanswered, (1235 Leopardstown ), 9/4: a short price in a big field but this fella still looks miles ahead of the handicapper for a stable legendary in winning with this type. Sauntered you an easy win at Cheltenham last time and clearly has it in him to win this with ease too with the big danger being the ever present threat in Irish racing of something else being lined up for plot !!
Jiving Jerry, (1310 Leopardstown ), 33/1: favourite Maxxum has a big chance here after a smooth Navan win last time but has had a big rise in the ratings. At a huge price it could be worth chancing Jiving Jerry who showed good form at staying trips this time last year and has been slow to regain the thread after an extended break but showed a lot more when a running on fourth last time and could be primed to run a blinder off a featherweight.
Flooring Porter, (1345 Leopardstown ), 7/4: many of these met recently, and although Flooring Porter was only fourth, this longer trip is his forte. Twice the stayers champion at Cheltenham, he also devours this track and is likely to lead from start to finish. Our eyes will also be on Coral Cup winner Commander Of Fleet who looks already as if he may be being quietly prepped for a repeat effort in March.
