The Saturday Yankee:
NAP OF THE DAY: El Fabiolo, (1430 Leopardstown), 2pts win, 6/1:
The Willie Mullins trained big names Appreciate It and Dysart Dynamo grab the attention but they could end up contesting the lead. Stablemate El Fabioilo has an excellent record with just one narrow defeat to Jonbon at Aintree. Still could be anything and really impressed with his jumping when meeting fences recently.
Good Land, (1320 Leopardstown), 11/4: won smoothly in a decent maiden here over Christmas. First instinct was he looks a bit short in the market for a Grade 1, but inspection of the opposition strikes little fear. Could be a solid start to the day, as he looks likely to enjoy these conditions.
Maxxum, (1540 Leopardstown), 11/4: has improved rapidly and absolutely sauntered away with a handicap here over Christmas. Has been given a brutal 18lb hike for that, but his jockey claims off 7 of those, and if in similar mode he should be able to defy 11lbs. Stablemate Au Fleuron looks like he is being readied for something, this may still be watching brief time.
Grange Walk, (1610 Cheltenham), 12/1: Loves it around here and was a decent second in this race last year off a similar mark. Hasn’t run so well this year but there were glimpses here last time. Not the strongest field and looks a decent price if able to find last year’s legs.
