It’s the last weekend of the Premier League season – Manchester City are the champions, for the fourth time in five years, and Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle fill up the Champions League qualification places.
It’s only the final two relegation places, to accompany Southampton back down to the Championship, that remain to be decided.
Everton currently lie fourth from bottom and are guaranteed to stay up if they beat Bournemouth. The Toffees will play with great intensity and are sure to have great support from the Goodison crowd, but will miss their main striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Abdoulaye Doucoure may be asked to get forward more frequently to compensate, and the midfielder netted twice against Brighton a few weeks ago, showing his prowess. We’ll take a punt he scores today.
Leicester need to beat West Ham to stand a chance but they have had a poor season, with only already-relegated Southampton having lost more top-flight games. The Hammers have gained four victories in their last five games in all competitions, and their players will want to press their claims for a place in the team to play the Europa Conference League final on June 7.
Leicester have been defensively weak this season, and we think a big West Ham side will cause problems at set pieces. We’ll take lanky midfielder Tomas Soucek to get on the end of one of these crosses.
Leeds also need lots of help if they are to get out of trouble, but they first need to start with a win over Tottenham. That could prove problematic, given the west Yorkshire side are without a victory in eight league games, drawing two and losing six.
Spurs don’t deserve many plaudits either, but a defensively weak side having to press forward is the recipe they would choose for their chance to secure European football next season.
Leeds have conceded a league-high 74 goals this season, and are likely to assume a high line in their attempt to press the game, providing plenty of space for Heung-Min Son to run into. The Korean has shown signs of just running into form, and we’ll take him to net twice today.
