Epsom Yankee: Vintage display in Dash…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:   Vintage Clarets, (1520 Epsom), 2pts win, 10/1:

Love the Dash, although it rarely loves back. Past winner Mokaatil has changes of a repeat, but the younger legs of Vintage Clarets are irresistible here.  Has run with credit already this season and handles sharp tracks.  Looks to have an ideal near rail draw and the booking of Oisin Murphy is inspired as nobody rides this track better.

JM Jungle, (1445 Epsom), 5/1:  a 5f 3yo dash has plenty of prospect for surprises, but it isn’t the biggest field and the consistent JM Jungle looks like he should enjoy these conditions.  Good early speed and cruising gallop, he could sneak to the near rail from his middle draw and  may prove even harder to catch than when just pipped in a good 18 runner event at York last time.

Caius Chorister,  (1630 Epsom), 3/1:  finished well ahead of today’s big rival Scampi here last time but is better off at the weights after that one’s subsequent York romp.  Neither would have liked the soft surface here that day, and Caius has two fast ground wins here last Summer which suggest the quicker surface today will suit.  Likes to race prominently and it would be no surprise if Ryan Moore chooses to boss this from the front.

Mr Wagyu, (1705 Epsom), 4/1:  veteran sprinter who was in peak form last season including taking this event off a mark of 94.  A repeat is within reach returning off 96 and there was more than a suspicious whiff of a return to form about his never nearer 7th in a big field at York last time.
