The first all-Manchester FA Cup final takes place this afternoon, with Manchester City starting the match as the clear favourite.
City have already won the Premier League and face Inter Milan in the Champions League final next weekend, and thus need a victory to stay on course for a historic Treble.
Manchester United are the only English side to have achieved such a feat to date, and will thus dearly want to stop their cross-city rivals. They are also looking to follow up their Carabao Cup triumph in February by completing a domestic cup double.
United won 2-1 in the most recent derby clash at Old Trafford in January, and are likely to adopt a similar counter-attacking policy today. This would mean sitting pretty deep, allowing City a lot of the ball and hoping the pace of their forward players will cause their neighbour problems.
This policy could allow City’s defensive midfielder Rodri room to push forward, and we’ll take a punt that he scores anytime at a hefty 10/1.
Another point worth noting is that Jack Grealish was the second-most fouled player on average in the most recent top-flight campaign – being brought down 2.8 times per contest.
The City winger finished the season in good form, and will likely cause United’s right-back a lot of problems. Aaron Wan-Bissaka was shown two yellows in his final six Premier League games, and we’ll take him to see yellow again.
Recommendations:
Rodri (City) to score, 1 pt, at 10/1, SkyBet
Wan-Bissaka (United) to be booked, 1 pt, at 7/2, Betway
