PGA Tour: A Fitz blitz in Toronto…

The golfing world is all abuzz with the news that the PGA Tour has agreed a deal to merge with the Saudi Arabian-backed rival circuit LIV Golf, ending the disruptive split in the sport.

How the larger enterprise moves forward has yet to be divulged (assuming a plan has been agreed), but the players lining up at the Oakdale Golf and Country Club in Toronto will have to put all the speculation to the back of their minds as they play the Canadian Open.

Rory McIlroy is seeking a third straight Canadian crown, on what would be a third different venue, but he has been a vocal supporter of the PGA Tour and could be feeling let down at the moment. Additionally, he collapsed from the lead to finish seventh at Muirfield Village on Sunday, and a short price doesn’t offer much value.

Matt Fitzpatrick finished strongly at the Memorial tournament last weekend, ending tied 9th after posting a disappointing 75 on the opening day. The key attribute for this particularly challenge is likely to be accuracy, and we think the young Englishman could shine this week.

Recommendation:

Fitzpatrick to win, 1 pt, at 16/1, bet365
